A Celebration of Black Excellence

Charlotte Blake Alston tells stories from the African and African-American traditions with style, grace, and a singular voice. The Black students attending Granite School District are developing unique voices of their own, and on January 28, 2019, they’ll join their voices in a celebration of student accomplishments at the 2nd annual Celebration of Black Excellence. The evening will feature stories and poems from Granite District students along with a performance by Charlotte Blake Alston. Come, listen and celebrate at West Lake STEM Jr High, 7 PM, January 28. This program is made possible by generous support from the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF), the National Endowment for the Arts, and Utah Arts and Museums. Additional funding for the project was provided by the Utah State Board of Education’s POPS Program. Free and open to the public.
