Conference & Festival FAQs 

1. Can I attend both the Conference and the Festival?


Yes, if choosing a weekend family pass click the dropdown option to add a conference pass to your purchase.


Or if you are purchasing a single weekend pass (adult, student, or senior) please choose the
 ADULT COMBO–Conference & Festival Weekend Pass–2017.
This Combo pass is cheaper than purchasing a Conference and Festival pass separately.
If you are interested, don't forget to add a
Conference Lunch 2017  (available soon) to your purchase.

2. What does the Festival Weekend Pass include? 

 

You can choose Festival weekend passes for either, family (up to 6 people),
adults, children (ages 12 and under), students (with ID), or seniors (65+). 

 

The weekend pass includes both Friday & Saturday daytime events and the following evening events:

Look Who's Talking—Thursday, 7 PM

Bedtime Stories—Friday, 6:30 PM
My Favorite Stories—Friday, 8 PM 

Shivers in the Night (ghost stories)—Friday, 9 PM

Laughin' Night at Electric Park—Saturday, 8 PM or

Laughin' Night at Garden Amphitheater —Saturday, 8 PM

 

The weekend pass is specific to your choice for Saturday’s Laughin’ Night event
(due to popularity, locations must be selected upon purchase and cannot be changed).

3. Which Laughin' Night location should I choose?

 

Laughin' Night performances will happen at the The Garden Amphitheater and
The Electric Park Pavilion. The distance from the Ashton Gardens to the Electric Park Pavilion 
is 1.9 miles, so if you are going there you must drive. Shuttles are not available.

 

Both venues have amazing lineups.  However, there are also some
seating differences between both locations. Please read the description below to find the
venue that best meets your needs.   

 

The Garden Amphitheater:
(My Favorite Stories—Friday & Laughin' Night—Saturday)

The Garden Amphitheater is split into different sections: a blanket area, a low back chair area
(no taller than 30 inches), and a high back chair area. Each section will have a designated area that
will be clearly marked (see picture below)
. If attendees are interested in having a chair for the
performance, they need to bring their own and sit in the appropriate area. 
There will also be
designated areas for wheelchair seating along the rim of the amphitheater.

 

 

The Electric Park Pavilion:

 (Bedtime Stories—Friday & Laughin' Night—Saturday)

The Electric Park Pavilion will have chairs set up for all attendees
There is also a designated area for wheelchair seating close to the stage.

4. Where do I park for each event? 
 

In contrast to previous years, all guests can park onsite at the Festival. Guests will be directed
where to park as they arrive at the Ashton Gardens. Attendees at evening events at
The Electric Park Pavilion and The Show Barn can park in any available parking
stalls around those venues.

 

Parking in unmarked areas or on the street is not be permitted. 
Carpooling is strongly recommended to help alleviate traffic congestion.

5. Are the events handicap accessible? 

 

Disabled parking is available at the front of the Gardens Visitor Center and a valid disability
parking permit is required. 

 

Paths to access the Garden Amphitheater can accommodate wheelchairs, but wheelchairs
and other conveyances are not available for rent through Thanksgiving Point.
Volunteers will be available with golf carts to help patrons in the Ashton Gardens.

 

There are disabled parking spots at both The Electric Park Pavilion and The Show Barn.
Paths at both venues can accommodate wheelchairs.

6. What time do gates open for each event?

Thursday, September 7: 

Registration for the Conference begins at 8:30 am.

 

Gates open for Look Who's Talking at 5:00 pm. (Live music begins at 6:00 pm.)

 

Friday, September 8:

Gates open for daytime events at 9:00 am.

(Live music and puppetry performances begin at 9:30 am. Storytelling in the tents begins at 10:00 am.)

 

The line for My Favorite Stories at the Garden Amphitheater starts to form at 5:00 pm.
Amphitheater seating opens at 5:30 pm. (Live music starts at 7:00 pm
with storytelling beginning at 8:00 pm.)

 

Gates open for Bedtime Stories at The Electric Park Pavilion at 5:30 pm.

(A preshow performance starts at 5:45 pm with storytelling beginning at 6:30 pm.)

 

Gates open for Shivers in the Night at The Show Barn at 8:30 pm with storytelling beginning at 9:00 pm.

 

Saturday, September 9:

7. Can I purchase tickets at the event?

 

Tickets for events that have not sold out are available for purchase at the event.
However, evening events, especially Laughin' Night, regularly sell out.
In order to avoid disappointment, please purchase your tickets online before the event.

 

Special early bird discounts are available until August 1.  

 

Unlike previous years, paper tickets can not be purchased at the Orem Public Library.

 10. Can I attend the Festival for just one day?

Yes, adult & child passes for either Friday or Saturday daytime events are listed on pages 2–3.

12. Is there an age limit to attend the Festival?

No, but with the exception of Bedtime Stories, the Festival is intended for adults, teens, 
and older children with longer attention spans. If young children become disruptive, we do ask
that their guardians take them out of the performance space until they have calmed down.

Everyone ages 3 and up must have their own ticket. 

Child passes are for kids 12 and under, and children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Please also remember no toddlers or babes in arms in the performance tents.

13. Will there be American Sign Language Interpreters?

Please call 801-228-1350 by September 1 to schedule an ASL interpreter.

14. What will the weather be like?

With the exception of the Conference and Shivers in the Night, all events are held outdoors.
Average daytime temperatures are 80 F and above, but early mornings and evenings are often cool.
Large performance tents provide shade, but in case of rain, a poncho may come in handy.

15. Is there transportation from the airport?

It is approximately a 34 minute drive from the Salt LakeInternational Airport to
