Timpanogos Storytelling, Orem Summerfest, and SCERA Center for the Arts are partnering to bring Orem a special night of storytelling as part of this year’s Summerfest events. The event will be held on on Wednesday, June 8 at the SCERA Shell Amphitheater. The program features two of the most popular storytellers in America, Bill Harley and Tim Lowry.

Bill is a two-time Grammy-winning musician and author who is a longtime audience favorite at storytelling festivals across the country.

Tim Lowry’s Southern charm and funny stories blew audiences away during his first visit to the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival in 2015.

Tickets are $5 a person. The program starts at 7:30 pm. The gates will open at 6:30 pm and live preshow music from Mountainside Jazz starts at 6:45 pm.

SCERA will have limited quantities of rental chairs available for $1.00 or you can bring a blanket. You can bring your own chairs if they are lower-style. No strollers, car seats or coolers of ANY size are permitted.

This event also received support from the National Endowment for the Arts and Utah Division of Arts and Museums.

Bill Harley

Bill Harley is a two-time Grammy award-winning artist who used song and story to paint a vibrant and hilarious picture of growing up, schooling, and family life. Bill tours nationwide as an author, performing artist, and keynote speaker. he is a longtime commentator for National Public Radio and a recipient of the lifetime achievement award from the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities "for his use of music, song, and story in building community; promoting our common humanity; and encouraging lifelong learning, exploring, and growing.

Tim Lowry

Tim Lowry has been telling stories of the People, by the People, and for the People for 25 years. Telling a variety of Folk Tales and Stories from American History, Tim has presented thousands of educational programs for schools across the country. At festivals Tim entertains audiences with a mixture of Folk Tales and Personal Narrative. He also presents storytelling/communication workshops at corporate retreats. When Tim is not on the road, he makes his home in Summerville, SC, where he often performs stories of the historic South Carolina Lowcountry: Colonial Tavern Tales, Gullah Folk Tales, and Civil War Ghost Stories.
